After the success of last year, the Rip Curl Boardmasters Beach Sessions are back with a vengeance delivering some of the UK’s hottest acts to Fistral Beach!!

The intimate gigs, set on the country’s most notorious surf break are hosted within the Foster’s Beach Bar each night from Monday 6th – Sunday 12th August, 7.30pm – 11pm boasting a line up that is nothing short of diverse; from the hardcore new rave sensation Enter Shikari to the King Blues and the sensational Cuban Brothers.

Enter Shikari take to the stage marking an immense first half of the year for the Hardcore, techno, rave band from St Albans. The second band ever to sell out the Astoria with no record deal, a number four album and a lot of glow sticks will kick of the weeks proceedings with not only a bang but a promise of a great light show and a whole lot of dancing opportunities. If you missed out in Falmouth back in March then embrace this as your second chance to see one of the most exciting live shows on the circuit!

All the way from Glasgow, screamo newcomers Flood Of Red are main support to Enter Shikari along with local metal band Nato!

The Pigeon Detectives, fresh from a mammoth UK tour and a number 3 album, are set to headline the Sessions Day Two! The band are currently enjoying nationwide success and this will be their first Cornish show, heading up a jam packed line-up featuring the coolest kids in indie/punk and new wave.

Sharing the Tuesday stage will be the fantastic Brummie band Beat Union. The band recently supported Reel Big Fish on their nationwide tour and this year have shared stages with the likes of Alexisonfire, Bedouin Soundclash and appeared to a cracking reception at Give It a Name back in April. This band are high energy and will have you singing and dancing along after the first minute of their set! Five piece Bristolians Fortune Drive open the evening with their very own brand of Rock N Soul! The band have been recently described as “new but utterly vintage…cider-soaked, no-holds-barred, dancing-fighting-****ing love songs” (Blowback) – sounds good to us!

Wednesday 8th August
Ticket price £10

Heavy Metal band, Sikth join Beach Sessions for their first show in the county in almost 2 years. Sikth are about to go through an important line up change and this will be the last chance to see the band with original singers.

This night is not for the faint hearted, local hardcore outfit Lioness kick off the evening with Architects in poll support position. Following their new album “Ruin” (to be released on June 25th) this Brighton quintet finish off the line up celebrating all that is great on the UK metal and hardcore scene.

Thursday 9th August
Ticket price £10

Legendary Blues hero rides in on Thursday 9th August for a complete change in musical direction in the form of Seasick Steve. Ex-hobo Seasick Steve out of Oakland, California is nothing short of unique. His live show s have converted everyone fortunate enough to have witnessed it. He wowed The Big Chill, Belladrum and Open House Festivals (amongst others) last year and tore up Jools Holland’s Hootenanny. His credentials are impeccable (Lightnin’ Hopkins, John Lee Hooker, Modest Mouse amongst many!), yet he favours pointing you towards the future: his blues-based storytelling anthems are today. In his own words “It’s like being in a dusty library where people want to make sure the book is on the right shelf. Well, this book ain’t on the right shelf!”

Come see the marvel that is Seasick Steve perform tracks from his current album ‘Dog House Music’ and some assorted career gems at his first ever Cornish show.

You may very well recognise the support for this night as it comes in the form of The King Blues who quickly tore up the dance floor whillst playing with Bedouin Soundclash back in March. This conscious rude-boy ska collective from deepest Hackney are loved by everyone from Mike Davies to Zane Lowe and return to Newquay after recently signing to Island Records.

Friday 10th August
Ticket price £10

The Cuban Brothers star at Friday’s Beach Sessions on Fistral. A totally unique band born of the loins of seventies Havana, nurtured on a diet of soulful, sexy tunes and inspired by Cuban historical fact and mythology – their fresh approach to live entertainment whips up a frenzy at every gig.
Their legendary performance combines music, which evolves with every show, riotous comedy, both physical and observational, and sensational dancing - consequently the energy at every show is incredible.

The Eastpak Throwdown Party return for a second year to deliver a complete blend of every aspect of the hip hop/ b-boy scene and featuring appearances from some of the worlds best dancers from places such as Japan, France, and America who battle each other, and party till the AM! The night was the brain child of DJ Donna Dee, who along with her business partner Charlie Morley (AKA MC Mr.E), and b-boy J-Styles created the night out of a wish to make a hip hop/ breaking night which was more about what you are, than what you wear. Throwdown has to be seen to be believed, and until youve seen a guy flip a somersault from a one handed handstand, you aint seen nothing!
